Bolted Joint

Joins two parts with bolts placed in holes they already have: every hole through the head-side part that continues as a blind hole in the threaded part gets a solid bolt, sized from the hole and its counterbore, its thread reaching 1.5 bolt diameters into the threaded part (never past the hole's bottom). The bolts are fused to both parts; the contact faces are not tied, the bolts carry the load. The parts are analysed as they are: a bolt in a thin wall holds on that wall, and the analysis says so. To keep a part solid around a hole, add a solid around it to Keep solid of that part's Analysis Body.

Inputs

Faces A Face Set

Contact faces of the threaded part.

Takes: Faces in Solid
Faces B Face Set

Contact faces of the part the bolt heads sit on.

Takes: Faces in Solid
Max gap Number

Largest gap in mm between the two parts' contact faces that the joint accepts (default 1).
