Tangent Conic

A conic arc from a start point to an end point that leaves and arrives along given directions. Its apex is where the two tangent lines meet; parallel tangents give a straight segment. Rho sets how close the arc comes to the apex.

Inputs

Point 1 Point

Start point, from a wire; replaces the typed value.

Takes: any block that gives Point (13 blocks)
Point 2 Point

End point, from a wire; replaces the typed value.

Takes: any block that gives Point (13 blocks)
Tangent 1 Vector

Start direction, from a wire; replaces the typed value.

Tangent 2 Vector

End direction, from a wire; replaces the typed value.

Density Number

Rho, from a wire; replaces the typed value.

Samples Number

How many straight pieces draw the curve, 2 to 128.

Output

Curve

Used by: any block that takes Curve (22 blocks)

Properties

Values the block gives besides its output. The editor lists them under Properties, and an input can read one by reference.

StartPoint Point

Where the curve begins.

EndPoint Point

Where the curve ends.

StartTangent Vector

The curve's unit direction at its start.

EndTangent Vector

The curve's unit direction at its end.

Direction Vector

Unit vector along the straight chord from start to end.

Length Number

Length measured along the curve.

CenterPoint Point

The center of the curve's bounding box.

BoundingBox Bounding Box

The axis-aligned extent of the curve.

ScalarField Number

Distance to the curve as a field, zero on the curve; give it volume with Thicken Surface.

ArcLength Number

At each point, how far along the curve its nearest curve point lies (computed on the CPU only).

Closed Yes/No

True when the curve's end meets its start.

Name Text

The display name of the node that made the curve.

ReversedCurve Curve

The same curve, running from end to start.
