Interpolated Spline

A smooth curve that passes exactly through every listed point, in order. It is a Curve with no volume; sweep or thicken it to make a Solid.

Inputs

Points List of Point

The points the curve goes through, in order (at least two). A list whose first and last point coincide gives a closed curve.

Takes: any block that gives Point (13 blocks)
Degree Number

Curve degree. This curve is always cubic, so only 3 is accepted; other values are refused.

Periodic Yes/No

Close the curve smoothly back to the first point, even when the first and last points differ.

Start tangent Vector

Optional direction at the first point. A longer vector makes the curve follow that direction further before bending.

End tangent Vector

Optional direction at the last point. A longer vector makes the curve arrive along that direction from further away.

Samples per segment Number

Straight pieces used between each pair of points to approximate the curve; the whole curve is capped at 256.

Output

Curve

Used by: any block that takes Curve (22 blocks)

Properties

Values the block gives besides its output. The editor lists them under Properties, and an input can read one by reference.

StartPoint Point

Where the curve begins.

EndPoint Point

Where the curve ends.

StartTangent Vector

The curve's unit direction at its start.

EndTangent Vector

The curve's unit direction at its end.

Direction Vector

Unit vector along the straight chord from start to end.

Length Number

Length measured along the curve.

CenterPoint Point

The center of the curve's bounding box.

BoundingBox Bounding Box

The axis-aligned extent of the curve.

ScalarField Number

Distance to the curve as a field, zero on the curve.

ArcLength Number

At each point, how far along the curve its nearest curve point lies (computed on the CPU only).

Name Text

The display name of the node that made the curve.

ReversedCurve Curve

The same curve, running from end to start.

ControlPoints List of Point

The points that shape the spline.

Degree Number

Polynomial degree of the spline (3 for Catmull-Rom).

Closed Yes/No

True when the spline loops back to its start.
